The calculation of the mittwald CO2 footprint  has shown that employee mobility causes a large part of our emissions. But of course it is not possible to avoid every journey! That is why we have set ourselves the goal of further reducing the emissions that arise from our employees‘ daily journeys. We will show you the concept we want to use to achieve this with a look behind the scenes of our  climate task force .

On the road in rural areas

Precisely because of our rural location, we face different challenges than companies located in urban areas. Public transport operates at a much more moderate frequency and it is not possible to commute by train and bus from all villages and communities.

Now you might think that 100% home office is the solution here, but that would not have a positive effect on our corporate culture in the long term. That’s why we are consciously looking for more environmentally friendly means of transport. But of course the remote office is still part of our flexible working environment.

The mobility concept of mittwald

We have been working on green mobility for mittwald for some time. Hybrid and electric vehicles have long been part of our fleet. In 2022, we installed another charging station for electric vehicles. This means that we now have 4 charging points.

A power line has also been laid to the bicycle shelter, so that e-bikes can now also be charged there. This e-bike charging station with 4 charging points has been available since May 2023.

With permanently mounted bicycle parking spaces, we have created parking spaces for a total of 36 bicycles. Pool bikes are also available to Mittwälder residents for lunch breaks, running errands or company sports in their free time. A total of 10 bicycles are available. In addition, since our job bike offer, which has been available since October 2021, more Mittwälder residents have been cycling to work.

Despite these efforts, we continue to emit CO2 on our commutes. mittwald compensates for all unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions with high-quality climate protection projects.

Our goal: avoid emissions

With the help of the mobility concept, we want to avoid emissions or at least reduce them further. To do this, we analyzed our mobility needs, the vehicle fleet and traffic flows. All of this was done with the intention of identifying development potential, setting goals and developing measures. In this way, we want to promote more environmentally friendly mobility in a holistic manner, both in a professional and private context.
